09:10 AM - 09:35 AM - Outsourcing Transitioning

On major outsourcing projects, organizations can forget that the most pressing issues in outsourcing are people-related, not money-related. Yet, the need to achieve immediate cost-savings from outsourcing can distract! The consequence is the disregard of one of the most important phases of the outsourcing process – the Transition. To ensure successful transition period; companies should put a special care on people change management and on number of Key Successful Factors such as: SLAs, KPIs, Communication Protocols, QA, Dashboards. On the other hand, a practical and sound “exit” strategy (fallback) must be in place and ready to execute once the above control signs reflect negatives.

02:40 PM - 03:05 PM - The Role of Knowledge Management in O&M Outsourcing: The Transitioning Process

One of the challenges in outsourcing operation and maintenance (O&M) projects and activities is the transfer of existing in-house maintenance knowledge, experience, and data to the third party or contractor. All the existing maintenance knowledge, history data, and experience are owned by the organization and must be carefully managed in order to prevent the loss of these valuable assets during the transition process.   This paper discusses the process of transferring knowledge and experience as required in an O&M project and highlights the importance of integration and managing the in-house knowledge and experience through best practices. It presents a framework and methodology based on a win/win partnership with contractors.
